Hexagon Challenge Poster
Printed on high-quality paper and suitable for framing is this poster showing more than 300 solutions to the Hexagon Challenge. Each solution is the work of a child at Math On-A-Stick at the Minnesota State Fair.
Entered in the JMM Mathematical Art Exhibition under the title “Is It Complete? Children’s Solutions to the Hexagon Challenge”, this poster won an Honorable Mention and was featured in the American Mathematical Society’s 2023 calendar (as the December image).
The poster measures 18 by 20 inches, and is digitally printed on archival-quality paper.
The Hexagon Challenge asks children to fill a regular hexagon frame with 21st Century Pattern Blocks. We know that this collection of found solutions is not the full set of possible solutions. We do not know how many solutions exist.
All proceeds from the sale of Hexagon Challenge posters go to Public Math, a nonprofit that supports children's math play, thinking, creativity, and wonder outside of school. You can also buy a poster directly from the Public Math website.
